Where did you grow up? I have lived in Lakeville since I was 9. Before Lakeville I lived in the neighborhood of 31st and Lake Street which was known as Crack alley at the time.
When did you become a member of Mi5 Fitness? December 2019
What do you do when you are not at Mi5? Lately when I am not at Mi5 I am not doing all that much. Working on my landscaping project and trying to make grass grow. I am hoping to be getting up to the cabin more often or just out on my paddle board on a quiet lake.
How did you find out about Mi5? I google searched CrossFit gyms in Lakeville after a coworker was talking about how much she loved it. I originally didn’t come to Mi5 because Crosswinds was closer to my house.
When/How did you realize CrossFit/Mi5 was the right fit for you? I realized it was right for me after the first class or two. I love the way I feel when I accomplish the workouts and watching my weights go up. I have bad anxiety and depression, and this is the BEST medication for me. Not only for the workouts but for the friendships that I have made.
What is your favorite WOD/movement? I love Deadlift!
What is your least favorite WOD/movement? I have so many that I dislike it is a wonder why I come back every day. My least favorites are Thrusters, Assault Bike, Burpees.
What would your perfect WOD look like? I am not sure what my perfect WOD would look like. For sure deadlifts then none of the above-mentioned movements.
What motivates you to stay fit? The way CrossFit makes me feel mentally is what motivates me the most.
What is something about you that Mi5 members do not yet know? When I was a kid my family was really big into waterskiing. I was a 3rd generation skier in the Prior Lake Waterski Shows. My grandfather and his buddy started the club/shows. My kids don’t know how to waterski. ☹
What advice would you give to someone just getting started at Mi5? When you look at the WOD and think. What the heck is that? I can’t do that! You want me to do WHAT? After the workout even if you scaled it the rush you get knowing that you did it is amazing. The added perk to the adrenaline rush is that you start building muscle and getting stronger mentally and physically. Even if you think you can’t, you can!
