Preferred Name: Shane
Where did you grow up?
I'm a country kid. I grew up in a rural neighborhood country 8 miles outside of Hastings MN. I went to Hastings Senior High School.
When did you become a member of Mi5 Fitness?
What do you do when you are not at Mi5?
I love archery/bowhunting, fishing, cooking and making different kinds of food (and eating it). Lately I've been making homemade sauerkraut and trying to make pickles!
I live in a townhouse but still I enjoy gardening, I have a community garden plot at Family of Christ church! And of course, spending time with my daughter Robbi.
How did you find out about Mi5? My pal Ryan Frank spoke highly of it.
When/How did you realize CrossFit/Mi5 was the right fit for you? When I moved to Lakeville I signed up for the free trial 1st week... I was sold after the first day.
What is your favorite WOD/movement? My favorite movement is overhead squats. Favorite WOD... hmmm, its hard to pick just one. I like "McGhee", "The Chief", and "Nancy".
What is your least favorite WOD/movement? Rest days.
What would your perfect WOD look like?
A couplet (of 21-18-15-12-9 rep scheme)
-Calories on Ski erg
-135 lb deadlifts
What motivates you to stay fit?
I think my best days of life are still ahead of me. I want to have as many options as possible when those days come and being fit will ensure I don't have as many physical limitations. Also, I'm curious to see how far I can go with CrossFit. I don't think I've hit my peak yet.
What is something about you that Mi5 members do not yet know? I love karaoke (with a little liquid courage)!
What advice would you give to someone just getting started at Mi5?
Be a coachable athlete. There are 10 rules of the gym written on the chalk board up front. Follow them, they are based on common sense and decency. If you do those things you'll have fun and go far.
